Around 7:30 am, Campbell enters the school carrying a band instrument case. Inside the case is a modified shotgun. Campbell warns friends and cousins to stay away from the gym and “go to the cafeteria instead.” Campbell then enters the gym, where many students are gathered to keep warm, and fires into the bleachers. He shoots a boy in the face, and a girl in the shoulder. The male shooting victim is a friend of Campbell's.
