Police say Howard had withdrawn from classes at Ohio University. Howard’s mother stated that she "spoke with her son earlier in the day, that he reported he quit school, was saying ‘some crazy things,’ and that they had heard from a friend of Howard’s that he was planning to sell his car to buy a gun,” the warrant reads. “(Howard’s mother said) he was acting irrationally and was ‘having issues again’.”
