Carpenter searches for Columbine shooting videos on YouTube and makes several comments about wanting to “shoot up a school” because it would make her famous, according to a fellow patient at Hope House (a group house for the mentally ill). Thulin and Carpenter agree that a shooting would be cool, then mimic holding firearms and shooting victims while re-enacting several scenarios. This patient was a female friend of Thulin's and was with Thulin and Carpenter in Thulin's apartment when Carpenter made this comment and reenacted scenarios. Carpenter also offers the patient $350 to take a pistol permit class so she can purchase a gun for Carpenter. Carpenter states that she plans on getting a driver to drive her, Mathias, and Thulin to Danbury or Stratford High School, where they would sneak in and hold students and staff hostage. After a certain amount of time, Carpenter says they would shoot students and staff until everyone was dead. Carpenter says she would shoot anyone who got in her way, including police, and then planned on killing herself afterwards.
