Many SPU buildings are equipped with electronic access control systems. These systems permit the Office of Safety and Security to remotely lockdown doors at several building entrances if it is determined that there is a threat to campus. Many SPU administrative and classroom buildings remain unlocked during business hours. However, some buildings also employ access control systems during business hours, and SPU-issued identification cards must be scanned in order to permit entry. All SPU faculty, staff, and students are issued SPU identification cards.
