Bishop later says that during the months preceding the shooting, her mental condition had deteriorated to the point where she was not in her right mind. She says that she was suicidal. Dr. M is concerned and tells Bishop to seek psychological counseling. Bishop sees a counselor at UAH, who recommends breathing exercises. Dr. M suggests that Bishop accompany her and other faculty members to a shooting range as a means of stress relief.
