Chanthabouly tries to commit suicide by drinking ammonia and bleach. He also inflicts harm upon himself in other ways, such as burning and cutting. He is transferred to multiple psychiatric hospitals, where he is diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, still symptomatic at the time of discharge.
