LaDue tells authorities of his plan to kill his mother, father and sister with a .22 caliber rifle and start a fire in rural Waseca to distract first responders. Then, he says he wants to go to Waseca Junior and Senior High School, where he plans to set off various pressure cooker bombs full of nails and ball bearings during lunch in recycling boxes in the cafeteria near the water fountains, kill the school resource officer while he is helping injured students, set fires and then open fire on students. He says he intends to "kill as many students as he [can]". He also says that his ultimate goal is for the SWAT team to kill him. He allegedly tells police that he would have shot the responding officer if he had brought a gun to the storage unit. LaDue tells police that he originally planned the attack for April 20, the anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre that killed 13 people in Littleton, Colo., in 1999. That was thwarted because that day was Easter Sunday and there was no school.
