Two weeks prior to his arrest, Acord suddenly brings up bombs in a conversation, according to a student at Albany High School. Acord approaches a group of students in a cooking class and asks if they are talking about bombs. A fellow student says that Acord "just went off on the different materials you need to make a pipe bomb". The group of students give him a funny look and tell him no. One student says he did not think much of the comment at the time.
