Bishop becomes obsessed with the belief that she is being stalked by a graduate student who she and other staff involuntarily committed years ago. She thinks she sees him on campus, but nobody else sees him at these locations. She also becomes obsessed with the belief that a staff member who had uncovered wrongs concerning UAH grants was killed by UAH administration. She tries explaining these fears to the provost, Mr. K, but according to Bishop, he is nonresponsive to her concerns on multiple occasions. Mr. K calls the police to protect himself and other officials when Bishop tells him her concerns and expresses discontent over her denial of tenure. He does not report Bishop as being in psychological crisis, contrary to a university policy.
