Castillo leaves his home, journal, notebook, and video tapes on his bed. He writes in his journal and films a video of himself talking and showing his father’s dead body. He then comes to school armed with smoke bombs, pipe bombs, a sawed-off shotgun, and a semiautomatic rifle. He is wearing a trenchcoat, black cargo pants, boots, and a military belt with ammunition pouches. He has a headband that says “Shoot me” and “columbine”. On the front of his shirt, he has written “remember Columbine”. After he arrives at the school, he sets off smoke bombs and starts shooting his rifle at the school building and into the air.
